EastEnders airs Buster’s final scenes as actor Karl Howman leaves the cast

Mick's dad exited in disgrace during tonight's episode of the BBC1 soap

Buster Briggs (Karl Howman) has made his final appearance on EastEnders, having left Walford in disgrace after being disowned by son Mick (Danny Dyer) and rejected by lover Kathy (Gillian Taylforth).

Buster had planned to depart Albert Square in the company of Kathy and not tell Shirley that the two of them had been having an affair these past few months. But Kathy put a stop to the scheme when she realised she could never leave sons Ian and Ben behind.

Before Buster exited, Mick made his feelings plain to his dad: “You do this – me and you are done,” he stated, only for Buster to drive off in his van anyway.

The episode marks the end of Howman’s stint on the BBC1 soap. After debuting in November 2014 as Shirley Carter’s former lover, Buster was later also revealed to be the true father of both Mick Carter and Dean Wicks.

A subsequent storyline saw him embark on an illicit affair with Kathy Beale, even coming to her rescue when she was abducted by her unhinged estranged husband Gavin.

Other EastEnders characters set to exit over the coming months include Masood Ahmed, Pam and Les Coker, Mitchell sisters Ronnie and Roxy, plus Lee Carter. You can read a full list of the all comings and goings in Walford here.
