EastEnders: Ryan Malloy’s return to create “a lot of drama”

Actor Neil McDermott was seen making a surprise comeback in tonight's episode of the BBC1 soap

Ryan Malloy (Neil McDermott) has made a surprise return to EastEnders, promising to look after his daughter Lily following the sectioning of Stacey Branning (Lacey Turner).

Ryan’s sister Whitney (Shona McGarty) was seen letting Ryan in at the Vic after growing concerned about Lily having to witness Stacey’s troubling behaviour. As Lily slept, Ryan was seen standing over her, saying “Don’t worry, baby. Daddy’s here now”.

Now, fans of the BBC1 soap can expect more drama as Ryan makes his presence felt, albeit temporarily. Speaking to RadioTimes.com, a show insider said:

“Ryan makes a brief return to the Square but it’s not plain sailing. He’s going to find himself in some difficult situations and it’s going to cause a lot of drama for Whitney! She reached out to him for the sake of Lily and didn’t really think about the consequences.”

The character of Ryan originally left Walford since 2011 when he fled after accidentally killing Rob Grayson, a pimp who had duped and exploited Whitney. Ryan left Albert Square after Whitney unwittingly implicated him in Grayson’s death.

But he returned for a blink-and-you’d-miss-it reappearance in 2014 when he was seen keeping his distance as  Whitney talked with Stacey. But it looks like there’s no danger of him holding back now that he’s re-entered Lily’s life…
