Dot Branning (June Brown) is to attend the funeral of her late husband Jim, but will arrive handcuffed to police officers.
Dot, who is currently on remand after confessing to the killing of her son Nick, will initially refuse to go to Jim’s send-off but a prison visit from Cora (Ann Mitchell) makes her reconsider her decision.
Scenes to be shown on Tuesday 21 April will see the rest of the Brannings prepare to pay their respects to Jim, only to get a shock when Dot unexpectedly arrives. During the service, Max (Jake Wood) stands up to make a eulogy about his dad, while Dot also gives an emotional tribute following some encouragement from her nearest and dearest.
But the day is to end with a shock for a grieving Carol (Lindsey Coulson) after Max comes clean about his business troubles. After confessing that he’s in too deep and has been selling stolen cars, Max is told by Carol to ask Phil for help. But will Phil want to come to his aid?
