Esio Trot, The Boy in the Dress and Professor Branestawm Christmas air dates and times confirmed

Don't miss Judi Dench, David Walliams and Harry Hill, a festive family three-of-a-kind on BBC1 this Christmas

The air dates and times for the three biggest BBC festive family treats are in, so make sure you’re firmly ensconced on the sofa at the following times…

Roald Dahl’s Esio Trot, starring Dame Judi Dench and Dustin Hoffmann will air on New Year’s Day at 6:30pm on BBC1, just before the final ever episode of Miranda.

David Walliams’s family drama The Boy in the Dress is scheduled for Boxing Day, 6:55pm on BBC1. Walliams says the drama, featuring a cameo from supermodel Kate Moss, is “in part a wish fulfilment fantasy for me”.

Harry Hill will star in The Incredible Adventures of Professor Branestawm on Christmas Eve at 8:30pm on BBC1. Comedian and author Charlie Higson brought the eccentric inventor to the small screen, adapted from the short stories by Norman Hunter.

Add to that the Doctor Who Christmas special on Christmas Day, and you’ve got one bumper Christmas TV wish list on BBC1 this year.
