Actress Lorna Fitzgerald has tipped Ian Beale to be the killer of Lucy Beale.
Lucy is set to meet her maker in scenes to be shown on Good Friday, but Fitzgerald – who plays Abi Branning in the BBC1 soap – believes that Ian is the one responsible for her death.
“I know he’s devastated by her death – but I think that’s because he killed her. Everyone at EastEnders is waiting to find out the truth in the same way as the viewers. There was a censored scene in a script the other day and that put a buzz about the studio,” she tells Inside Soap.
Despite Fitzgerald’s suspicions, Adam Woodyatt – who has played Ian since the first episode of EastEnders in 1985 – admits that he is currently in the dark as to who has committed the crime: “I don’t know who killed Lucy. Apart from the bosses, no one has a clue. Everyone at work has a different theory and that seems to change every day!” he said today.
Hetti Bywater, who has played Lucy since 2012, has already filmed her exit scenes, but even she remains ignorant as to who has killed her character: “I thought I was 100 per cent sure and that I had it sussed out in my head. But after talking to everyone else on the cast I’m not sure anymore,” she said recently.
The Beale family will receive the news about Lucy’s demise during next week’s episodes, with show bosses promising that the high-profile plotline will see the soap through to its 30th anniversary in February 2015.
