EastEnders spoilers: Laurie Brett to return as Jane Beale for more episodes

Ian's ex-wife will be back on the Square again in next week's episodes

Jane Beale (Laurie Brett) is to return to Walford again next week and soon finds herself picking up on tension between ex-husband Ian (Adam Woodyatt) and his current fiancée Denise (Diane Parish).

In scenes to be shown on Monday 17 January, viewers will also see Denise come clean to Jane about recently kissing someone else. But will Denise listen to Jane’s advice?

Jane is also set to clash with Ian over his teaching methods when she notices that he is putting a lot of pressure on Bobby. There will be further ructions when Ian asks his former wife to buy into Scarlett’s. But just as Jane is seriously considering leaving town again, she gets the opportunity to catch up with Masood (Nitin Ganatra) in the Vic, where the pair refuse to wallow about their situations.

Jane’s reappearance follows a surprise one-off return for the character in January, when actress Laurie Brett temporarily swapped the classrooms of Waterloo Road for life in Albert Square. Speaking then, the 44-year-old said:

“My phone went into meltdown. I had texts, tweets and calls from friends saying that they thought I’d actually broken Twitter. It was phenomenal and just shows what a surprise the simple stuff makes when you don’t have spoilers. I think we need more of that.”
