As filming finishes on the new BBC1 drama The Musketeers, the Corporation has released this first on-set action shot ahead of the 2014 broadcast.
Telling the story of the elite swordsmen immotalised by Alexandre Dumas, the 10-part drama will also feature the new Doctor Peter Capaldi as the shadowy and sinister Cardinal Richelieu.
Set in 17th Century Paris the drama follows the crack team of soldiers and bodyguards to King Louis XIII.
Young fighter D’Artagnan, who is played here by Skins actor Luke Pasqualino, joins the Musketeers of the Guard and meets his three mates on a quest to right the wrong of his father’s death.
Fellow Musky Athos is played Tom Burke, who played Bentley Drummle in the BBC’s Great Expectations. Aramis is plated by Merlin’s Santiago Cabrera and relative newcomer Howard Charles is Porthos.
Other supporting stars include Tamla Kari, Maimie McCoy, Hugo Speer, Ryan Gage and Alexandra Dowling.
Writer and creator Adrian Hodges said: “I’m thrilled we can finally release the first image since wrapping filming on The Musketeers. I hope the picture gives a good idea of the look and intensity of the Musketeers themselves, and a hint of the excitement of each powerful, dramatic and action-filled episode.”
It will air early next year.
