A Woolpack regular will be left fighting for their life during a hostage crisis that will air in next week’s episodes of Emmerdale.
Crazed Cameron Murray will hold 12 villagers at gunpoint after escaping from police custody. But one unlucky character will end up on the critical list after taking a bullet.
Among those in the firing line are Cameron’s former girlfriends Chas (Lucy Pargeter) and Debbie (Charley Webb), along with chef Marlon Dingle (Mark Charnock).
Dominic Power, who plays three-time killer Cameron, says of the shooting: “It’s someone you are immediately going to worry about and feel sorry for. It’s a great choice as it spins off and has its own complete storyline. The repercussions are felt not just by them but others around them.”
The action is set to unfold against terrible weather conditions as rain lashes the village and rising flood waters – particularly in the Woolpack cellar – leave many of the soap’s most familiar faces fearing for their safety.
Executive producer Kate Oates promises a “long-awaited climax” to the tense plotline that has seen Cameron’s body count rise over the past 12 months as he’s taken the life of Carl King, Alex Moss and Gennie Sharma:
“These latest episodes presented some unique challenges of their own. A week at Pinewood using the famous Underwater Stage, where the Woolpack cellar was painstakingly recreated (and then sunk, with much breath-holding and finger-crossing) was just part of the experience.
“A week of night shoots, an intense six-day shoot in the Woolie, a hell of a lot of water, a very wet cast, plus stand-out performances from (among our brilliantly talented cast) Dominic Power, Charley Webb, Lucy Pargeter and Mark Charnock, have given us a collection of episodes that say much about the style of drama and storytelling at Emmerdale right now.”
