With season one concluding in a matter of weeks State-side, ABC has taken the decision to the wire before finally seeing sense and recommissioning the excellent Nashville.
Airing on More4 in the UK, Nashville is a drama based around the country music industry and politics of “Music City, USA”. Starring Connie Britton as established singing superstar Rayner Jaymes and Hayden Panettiere as young musical pretender Juliette Barnes, the story focuses on the power battles between the pair, and the complicated lives of those around them.
The critically acclaimed series won a 2012 Critics’ Choice Television Award for most exciting new show and has garnered Satellite Awards and Golden Globe nominations for both Panettiere and Britton.
In the UK, the show has performed well for More4 as part of its Thursday night schedule, opening with nearly 400,000 viewers, and retaining above average audiences numbers as its gone on. Channel 4 has yet to confirm whether it will be buying the second series of the show.
Nashville season 2 is expected to air as part of ABC’s autumn 2013 schedule.
