Arrow star Jessica De Gouw cast alongside Jonathan Rhys Meyers in Dracula

Bram Stoker's infamous vampire will fall hopelessly in love with Victorian beauty Mina in Sky Living's "provocative" new drama series

After five years of Twilight mania, there is a gap in the market for a vampire love affair. Step forward Arrow actress Jessica De Gouw who has bravely signed on to play the object of Count Dracula’s affections in Sky Living’s upcoming ten-part series starring Jonathan Rhys Meyers (The Tudors).

Due to begin production later this year, Dracula will see Rhys Meyers play the titular role in the latest adaptation of Bram Stoker’s classic novel. The new series will follow the infamous vampire arriving in London as an American entrepreneur who operates under the guise of bringing modern science to Victorian society. But, unbeknownst to his victims, his true motive will be to exact revenge upon those who ruined his life centuries earlier.

Only one person stands in the way of his vengeance – beautiful Mina, who appears to be a reincarnation of Dracula’s dead wife and with whom he falls hopelessly in love with in what Sky promises to be a “provocative new drama series”.

Produced by Carnival Films – the creators of Downton Abbey – and Emmy Award-winning Colin Callender (The Life and Adventures of Nicholas Nickleby), could Dracula satiate the appetites of the scores of Twihard fans pining after Edward and Bella? We’ll have to wait until it hits television screens later this year to find out…
