Nothing to do with Mr Reeves really, though he does figure, briefly and oddly. This particular Keanu is an ultra-cute kitten that escapes a drug-dealer shootout and is taken in by two ultra-middle-class black cousins. When the kitty gets kidnapped by feared street gang the Blips, the cousins have to infiltrate the gang to get Keanu back, and get mistaken for feared Mob hitmen in the process. But can they sustain their pretence of being "street" when they're really way more "avenue"? Keanu is a first big-screen vehicle for US TV comics Keegan-Michael Key and Jordan Peele. In terms of humour, it's a film of highs and lows, with an inconsistent tone that sees ill-judged scenes set alongside moments of near-genius, one involving the transformative power of George Michael's music. But Key and Peele are likeable and have good chemistry. They'll do well, and they'll do better. As an adult action-comedy spoof, Keanu does intermittently cut it. And the kitten is really, really cute.
