Sit on a giant ice throne in London’s Covent Garden today

Pretend to be Joffrey from Game of Thrones by mounting a frozen Iron Throne...

Today Covent Garden market has become the Red Keep in King’s Landing. A giant replica of the Iron Throne has been created out of ice, and fans of HBO’s hit fantasy drama Game of Thrones have been invited to #TakeTheThrone.

Like the original, the ceremonial chair has dozens of swords carefully sculpted from ice, and will remain in central London throughout the day.

“It was one of the biggest honours and most difficult challenges of our professional careers,” explained sculptor Mat Foster, director of Glacial Art Ice Sculptors, who was commissioned by HBO to help promote the DVD release of series four of Game of Thrones. “For the greatest show on earth we wanted to create nothing short of our most impressive ice sculpture to date,” said Foster.

Dozens of fans are queueing to take a seat so wannabe Joffreys will need to get there quick before it melts…

Game of Thrones season four is out on Blu-ray and DVD today.
