Comedian Vic Reeves has joined the cast of Coronation Street for a three-month guest stint.
Reeves – whose real name in Jim Moir – will play the role of a television presenter Colin who comes to Weatherfield to film with Norris and Mary after they are chosen to make an appearance on his show. But it’s not long before Colin finds himself embroiled in the lives of other street residents.
The star – who will be on screen from late Summer – said today: “I’ve been a lifelong fan of Corrie. In fact, I think I saw the very first one. I try not to miss any episodes.
“I’m really looking forward to acting in Corrie. It’s a real thrill to be part of a British Institution.”
Coronation Street Executive Producer Kieran Roberts added: “Jim is such a well-loved entertainer and a brilliant actor so we’re thrilled he’s joining the cast of Coronation Street.”
Vic Reeves isn’t, of course, the first comedian to have taken on a guest role in Corrie: Norman Wisdom, Peter Kay and – most recently – Paddy McGuinness have all done a stint on the cobbles.
