Game of Thrones is just two seasons away from journey’s end, but George RR Martin is just getting started when it comes to TV adaptations.
The A Song of Ice and Fire author is teaming up with writer Jeff Buhler to adapt his 1980 novella Nightflyers for a new TV series, according to the Hollywood Reporter.
The sci-fi story is set in a future with Earth on the brink of destruction, when the crew of the space ship Nightflyer set out on a mission to try and secure humanity’s survival.
The series will be made by Syfy, and is the second time the series has been adapted for the screen – in 1987 producer Robert Jaffe wrote a feature film based on Martin’s story.
Martin himself will not be involved in the project according to reports, instead focussing on working on multiple ideas for Game of Thrones spin-offs with HBO.
