Home and Away: Phoebe and Justin are engaged – eventually

But why does Justin's proposal almost wreck their relationship?

There’s wedding bells in Summer Bay when Phoebe Nicholson gets engaged to Justin Morgan, although the disastrous proposal doesn’t go to plan and almost destroys the couple…

Stunned at her boyfriend’s spontaneous suggestion of marriage, Phoebe is far from the picture of an excited bride-to-be. Rather than splashing out on a load of glossy wedding magazines and selecting colour schemes, the Summer Bay songbird reacts terribly to the idea and locks herself in the bathroom.

Having previously agreed marriage was not for them, Phoebe is confused at Justin’s change of heart and confides in friend Kat that they obviously want different things – perhaps they shouldn’t be together at all?

Also scarred by her parents’ failed marriage, angry Pheebs drowns her sorrows as Justin insists that, while popping the question was done on the spur-of-the-moment, he can’t imagine himself with anyone else and wants to spend the rest of his life with the local rock chick.

Having slept on it, Phoebe talks pros and cons of getting hitched with Kat and Brody, who point out that Justin makes her happy and they’ve already survived all sorts of traumas (it comes with the territory of being a couple in the Bay…). Will this give stubborn Phoebe food for thought on the issue?

Tracking down Justin, Ms Nicholson asks if he still feels the same way – and after admitting he’s never felt this way before and he wants the world to know it, Phoebe changes her mind and the couple are officially on the road to becoming Mr and Mrs Morgan.

But is Phoebe’s initial reluctance to say yes a sign of how committed she really is to their romance? Could she get cold feet as the wedding draws nearer, or more likely, at the altar in a white frock in the middle of the vows? Home and Away weddings rarely go to plan…
