The David Platt of old will resurface in the wake of wife Kylie’s death as he becomes a one-man vigilante who’s determined to see justice done.
Coronation Street bosses are remaining tight lipped about the nature of Kylie’s demise, but the aftermath finds David causing concern for Gail and Audrey as he struggles to hold things together for the sake of his kids.
Scenes to be broadcast on Monday 18 July will see David grow ever determined to find the answers he needs – and losing control in the process.
“He wants to blame somebody for taking her away from them,” says actor Jack P Shepherd. “Now he doesn’t have anyone like Kylie to reign him in, so he is on the warpath. Everything was going great in his life and now he wants someone to pay for what happened.”
So is this the return of the more volatile David Platt? “He has always been there, the audience know and I know that it needs something like this to trigger a reaction and send him over the edge. And this is big enough for an extreme reaction.”
