EastEnders: Jay “to face severe consequences” after discovering that Linzi is underage

Gut-wrenching twist leaves Jay with an uncertain future

Unlucky-in-love Jay Brown (Jamie Borthwick) has been dealt a sickening blow to his fledging romance thanks to girlfriend Linzi Bragg (Amy-Leigh Hickman) being revealed to be a school pupil.

Scenes just broadcast on tonight’s EastEnders saw Jay head to the local comprehensive to pick up Louise Mitchell (Tilly Keeper), who had been involved in a fight. But Jay was left open-mouthed with shock after Louise’s adversary was shown to be Linzi, who was frogmarched out of the school by Walford landlady Thelma.

And it seems that EastEnders fans who wondered whether Jay will find himself in trouble with the authorities as a result of the underage relationship are to have their suspicions confirmed.

Speaking tonight, an EastEnders insider told RadioTimes.com: “Jay’s world comes to a juddering halt when he discovers the truth about Linzi’s age. He immediately realises the seriousness of his mistake and is set to face severe consequences.”

The cliffhanger confirms fan speculation that Linzi would turn out to be under the age of 16, a theory that was fuelled last week by Jay rebuffing the advances of 14-year-old Louise.

With show bosses promising that Jay will get a major storyline during 2016, there’s sure to be further debate now as to whether Jay will eventually face a prison sentence as a result of his actions.

One Twitter user wrote last week: “Why do I have a horrible feeling that Linzi is underage and Jay will be accused of rape?”
