Cryptic Game of Thrones website ThreeEyedRaven.com has dropped another mystery preview trailer to subscribers – and this time it’s all about Maisie Williams’ beleaguered fan-favourite character Arya Stark.
While the clip is only viewable once to subscribers (and can’t be recorded or screencapped), our look at the seconds-long preview has given us a decent idea of what Arya will be up to this season of the smash-hit HBO fantasy series based on George RR Martin’s bestselling novels.
Opening with a shot of coastline, the short clip includes several short flashbacks to Arya’s previous storylines in the show including her drawing a bow, killing a man in an inn and the flying birds that signified the execution of her father Ned Stark (Sean Bean) way back in series 1.
However, it’s the last image that confirms Arya’s direction in series 5 as she enters a black and white-patterned door – almost certainly a reference to the House of Black and White from the book series, where the character learns to be a member of legendary assassin’s organization the Faceless Men in the foreign city of Braavos. So it looks like Arya’s going to become even more deadly over the coming year…
The preview also contains an audio clip of her old sword teacher Syrio Forel (Miltos Yerolemou) who also apparently perished in series 1, saying: “There is only one thing we say to death. Not today.” Could the character, a Braavos native, be making a surprise return from the grave? We’ll have to wait and see…
Speaking to RadioTimes.com about the next series of Game of Thrones, Williams said: “Even for a cast member, this next year is so secretive. I ask millions of questions and never get any real answers, because they want to keep so many things hush hush.”
She added: “This new season I’m extremely extremely excited… not just for my storyline, but for other storylines too.”
Williams will appear on Channel 4 tonight in Cyberbully, a drama based on real-life instances of online abuse.
