Fish ‘n’ slips – Freddie Flintoff to open his own fish and chip shop

The former England cricketer is dubbed Lord of the Fries for new Sky 1 show

He beefed up in an effort to become a pro boxer, but Freddie Flintoff is about to undo all that hard fitness work – by opening his own fish and chip shop.

The former England cricketer will indulge his love of all things deep-fried for a new series due to air on Sky1. Flintoff: Lord of the Fries will see Flintoff embark on a tour of Britain and Ireland in his very own mobile fish and chip van.

He will be joined in his adventure by Rob Penn, the cycling and eco-enthusiast who led Flintoff across the Amazon earlier this year in Sky travelogue Flintoff’s Road to Nowhere.

“Fish and Chips have always been one of my biggest vices believe it or not so I’m glad that Sky1 have given me the chance to go on my very own Fish ‘n’ Chip adventure,” said Flintoff. “Rob and I had a once in a lifetime experience cycling through the Amazon so I’m hoping this chip shop van journey will be just as much fun but maybe a little less sore!”

Giants Causeway, Whitby Bay and the Severn Bore in Somerset are all stops on Flintoff and Penn’s wish list, but we’ll have to wait for the six-part series to see whether anyone will trust Freddie to bowl up a decent mushy peas along the way.
