Ahead of the Brazil World Cup, celebrity footballer David Beckham embarked on a journey through the wilds of the Amazon rainforest.
In his new one-off 90 minute show, Beckham makes a quick stop in Rio de Janeiro, then ventures to Manaus, the capital city of Amazonas, in the heart of the rainforest. He he meets up with his pals Derek White and Dave Gardner and they travel to Angelin, by boat and motorbike.
BBC controller Charlotte Moore, said: “In this special documentary for BBC1, David Beckham embarks on a top secret expedition to the Amazon that will see him encounter the other side of Brazil and journey through the tropical rainforest, a TV first for the global icon.”
Crossing the river Negro and the banks of the Cuieras River Beckham ventures deep into the jungle where he meets the remote Yanomami tribe.
Helen Jackson, managing director of BBC Worldwide content, explained: “This is an unforgettable documentary set in the heart of the dense Amazon rainforest following David Beckham.”
