Strictly Come Dancing 2013 rumour mill: Abbey Clancy signs up for new series?

The model and wife of footballer Peter Crouch has reportedly signed up for the new series of the BBC dancing contest

THE RUMOUR: Model Abbey Clancy – better known to most as the wife of football beanpole Peter Crouch – has signed up to the new series of Strictly Come Dancing. The 27-year-old, who first graced our television screens in the second cycle of Britain’s Next Top Model, has dusted off her dancing shoes to perfect her cha-cha-cha, paso doble and Venetian waltz, signing a lucrative contract reported to be worth a cool £35k.

QUOTE FROM A “SOURCE” WHO PROBABLY DOESN’T EXIST: “Abbey is really excited to be appearing on Strictly. All her family and friends watch it and Peter is being very supportive – he can’t wait to see Abbey in her slinky, sparkly costumes. Obviously living in Cheshire is not ideal when contestants have to train at least five times a week. She and Peter are, therefore, looking to rent a place in London and have their eye on a gorgeous £3 million pad on a very desirable road. Abbey’s already in fantastic shape but is looking forward to learning new moves and getting even fitter. She’ll be a fantastic contestant.” (The Mirror)

RADIOTIMES.COM TRUTH RATING: 4/5. Abbey’s certainly got the Strictly physique and models have always been a popular choice amongst the BBC casting team, with Penny Lancaster, Kelly Brook, Jodie Kidd and Jerry Hall all gracing the dancefloor over the years. And maybe Abbey can pick up some tips from her husband and his famous robot dance…
