After a man was pushed and fell from the balcony during his Infamous show at the Palace Theatre this weekend, illusionist Derren Brown has learned one thing he can’t control – joking wives.
The showman revealed on Facebook:
“Tonight a woman pushed her hubby as a joke from the front of the balcony. He fell and caught the upper circle on the way down, and was hanging from it. He’s fine, but what a finale. Sending best thoughts to him & wife, terrifying.”
Eyewitness reports suggest several audience members helped pull the man back to safety.
Brown sent the same message on Twitter, before later joining the fight against social media bullying by boycotting the site, posting the message “#twittersilence”.
Meanwhile, fans have rushed to leave messages on the star’s Facebook page.
One joked, “Ah, man. He can have anything he wants now. “What? No I can’t have bacon? Remember that time you almost killed me? Yeah, get me my bacon.”
Many also commented on the fact that members of the audience, aware of Brown’s trickster style, may well have thought the inicident was all part of the show – after all, the Palace Theatre’s website does describe Infamous as a “psychological roller-coaster based around audience participation”…
