EastEnders: Lisa Maxwell to play David Wicks’s girlfriend – first look picture

The former star of The Bill and current Loose Women panellist will appear in an episode airing during September

Lisa Maxwell has filmed an episode of EastEnders where she’ll be playing the role of Naomi – the girlfriend of lothario David Wicks (Michael French).

Maxwell, 49, best-known for playing DI Sam Nixon in The Bill as well as for being a panellist on ITV’s Loose Women, said of her stint in Walford: “I’ve had a fantastic time filming at EastEnders and working with the wonderful Michael [French], Lindsey [Coulson] and Nitin [Ganatra] has been an absolute joy. I can honestly say it’s one of the happiest jobs I’ve done, Michael French is an amazing actor and to be part of such an iconic character’s return to the Square felt very special.”

EastEnders bosses confirmed last week that David Wicks would be heading back to Albert Square later this year. Having briefly reappeared in 2012 to be at the deathbed of mum Pat, David will return full-time to cause a stir. Viewers won’t be surprised to see the old womaniser with a woman in tow when Lisa Maxwell’s episode airs in September – however things aren’t quite what they seem when the past quickly catches up with both David and Naomi.

Outgoing executive producer Lorraine Newman said of French’s return:  “It’s an absolute honour to have Michael back in the show. Michael created an iconic character in David and with such rich history, with Ian, Bianca and of course, Carol, there’s plenty to explore in the future.”
