Actress Tina O’Brien, who played gymslip mum Sarah-Louise Platt in Coronation Street, has commented on Twitter about rumours that she’s set to return to the ITV soap:
“So a lot of peeps asking if I’m returning to Corrie but I’ve only read it in paper like everyone else lol”.
At the weekend, the Daily Mail was reporting that O’Brien, 29, had signed a new contract and that Sarah-Louise would be heading back to Weatherfield with her now teenaged daughter Bethany in tow.
However, a Corrie spokesperson has told RadioTimes.com that the reports were just pure speculation and that new producer Stuart Blackburn hadn’t yet started, so the matter had not even been discussed.
During her years on Coronation Street, O’Brien was at the centre of a headline-making storyline that found Sarah-Louise becoming pregnant while underage and dealing with motherhood in her teens. The character was last seen on screen in 2007 when she departed for a new life in Milan.
