Olympic medal winners Louis Smith and Victoria Pendleton will appear on Strictly Come Dancing 2012.
The Team GB stalwarts are the fifth and sixth celebrities to emerge as contestants for the tenth series of the BBC dancing show, having been confirmed by their agents on Twitter. They’ll join Girls Aloud’s Kimberly Walsh, Westlife’s Nicky Byrne, Tracy Beaker star Dani Harmer and Daybreak’s showbiz editor Richard Arnold on the dancefloor.
31-year-old track cyclist Pendleton won two medals at this summer’s Games, having earned gold in the women’s keirin and silver in the individual sprint. 23-year-old gymnast Smith won silver in the pommel horse event, and has previously appeared on TV as a contestant on The X Factor in 2008.
The full Strictly contestant line-up will be made later today. The launch show will be broadcast on BBC1 on Saturday 15 September at 6:30pm.
