Soap spoilers! The week ahead in Coronation Street, Emmerdale and EastEnders

8-12 April: Jack and Sharon head to the altar in EastEnders, while Karl considers going on the run in Corrie

Wedding days always go so badly in E20 that it’s a wonder the local vicar even bothers to show up. This time, it’s Sharon and Jack’s turn to have a crisis at the altar after she kisses Phil Mitchell and he ends up locked in an office with Phil Mitchell. Basically, that’s too much Phil Mitchell in anybody’s life. The result is that the ceremony goes pear-shaped before anyone’s had the chance to sample Ian Beale’s buffet. Oh well, every cloud…

Coronation Street

Anyone who feels that the Street’s been missing something since accidental murderer John Stape breathed his last can find a willing replacement in Karl Munro, the latest conscience-plagued wrongdoer trying to cover up a catalogue of crimes. His plan is to flee with what remains of his marbles, yet Stella is quick to convince the twisted firestarter to stay. But will Karl be able to keep a cool head as Sunita is laid to rest?

Need a responsible babysitter who won’t let you down? Then don’t call on Kerry who, at the first craving for nicotine, nips to the shop for fags and leaves Andy’s kids home alone. And as if that isn’t bad enough, Sarah gets out of bed and warms some milk for a crying Jack. Elsewhere, Gennie has the perfect set-up for her nuptials: potential best men fighting? Check. A mum who refuses to attend? Check. A groom on his stag night dressed as an Oompa-Loompa? Er, check!
