EastEnders actress Clair Norris has revealed why her character Bernadette Taylor ends up making a play for Shakil Kazemi in next week’s episodes of the BBC1 soap.
“She’s been through a lot and is not really thinking straight. Being a mum was her purpose and she’s struggling now it’s been taken away from her,” said the Walford star. “Shakil is just there, and without thinking, she just kisses him.”
Recent episodes have seen Bernadette left distraught after suffering a tragic miscarriage. Now, in the wake of that loss, Bernadette will arrange to see Callum, the father of the baby, only for him to refuse to meet her.
Following the knockback, Bernadette makes a move on a Shakil, only for a stunned Keegan to turn up and catch them in the act.
Speaking about what happens next, Norris told Inside Soap: “Keegan is shocked and doesn’t expect that from his friend or his sister.
“But I think Bernadette likes seeing his protective side. He hasn’t really reacted since she lost the baby, and although she has Keanu, she wants Keegan’s support too. In the end, I think Keegan understands why Bernadette acted that way and it makes them a lot closer.”
