EastEnders: Phil decides to have a transplant – but will he get a new liver in time?

Is Phil still set to die despite his change of mind?

An ailing Phil Mitchell has changed his mind about wanting to die, with tonight’s EastEnders having seen him decide to go on the waiting list for a liver transplant.

After seeing how news of his impending demise was affecting his family, Phil opted to have the operation that could save his life.

But such is the severity of Phil’s condition, that he still has no guarantee that a suitable liver can be found in time.

In fact, fans of the BBC1 soap can expect matters to get worse before they show any sign of getting better. A storyline to play out over Christmas will follow the continuing plight of Phil, whose health will be seen rapidly deteriorating thanks to his cirrhosis.

So will this be Phil’s final festive season? And how would the Mitchells cope if he were to die?
