Coronation Street carnage: David crashes his car – but has he killed Lily?

There was road smash mayhem in our first visit of the evening to Corrie

David Platt’s revenge mission has gone horribly wrong with the first part of tonight’s Coronation Street double bill having climaxed with a horrific car smash.

Scenes just broadcast on the ITV soap saw David escape from the Bistro cellar (where he’d been held prisoner by Gail, Nick and Sarah) and lock himself inside the death-trap car he’d previously filled with petrol containers.

As the Platts pleaded with him to halt his mad plan, David doused himself in fuel and fired up the engine, speeding off down the street as his family cried out for him to stop.

Little did David know, though, that a horrified Fiz had at that very minute discovered that little Lily was missing from the backyard. But as his car hurtled down the cobbles, David spotted his daughter in the middle of the road and swerved to avoid her.

Gary – who happened to be in area – made a grab for Lily just as David’s car flipped onto its roof and crashed into parked cars outside the medical centre.

So has David ended up killing himself, Gary and Lily? And is there more drama to come? Of course there is – this is Corrie! So don’t forget to return to ITV at 8.30pm to find out what happens next…
