EastEnders actress Jacqueline Jossa has revealed that co-star Jake Wood is to make an imminent return to the BBC1 soap. When asked by RadioTimes.com when Max would be making his comeback to Walford, Jossa – who plays Wood’s screen daughter Lauren – replied: “Very soon.”
Quizzed about whether Max would be out for revenge following his wrongful incarceration for the murder of Lucy Beale, Jossa replied: “You’d hope so. Max is good when he’s bad. And Lauren, of course, knew who murdered Lucy and let Max sit in prison.”
Max was last seen making a blink-and-you’ll-miss-it appearance in the closing seconds of an episode broadcast in July when – having had his conviction for murder quashed – he fled Walford in a taxi. Later on, Ian was seen receiving a letter from Max that read: ‘I will never forget’.
News of Max’s return comes amid the departures of several EastEnders characters including Pam and Les Coker. But Jossa believes that evolution is natural whenever a new executive producer – in this case, Sean O’Connor – takes over:
“When new bosses come in, things have to change. You can’t keep the same people in it all the time. It’s always happened. It’s not a new thing. So I don’t know why people are making such a big deal of it. I’m just happy to be there for as long as I’m there.”
