Aunt Babe is leaving EastEnders

But the BBC1 soap hints that we might not have seen the last of the Walford villain

Scheming Babe Smith is the latest character to leave BBC1 soap, with actress Annette Badland set to exit later this year.

After being taken under the wing of her family at the Queen Vic, Babe has caused no end of trouble for both the Carters and the wider residents of Albert Square.

Since arriving in January 2014, she’s dealt marijuana, put Tina’s life at risk, bullied Abi and blackmailed the Cokers. But it’s now been revealed that she won’t be plotting for much longer in Walford.

An EastEnders spokesperson confirmed to “Prior to living in The Vic, Aunt Babe was seen coming and going from the Square with her own life away from Walford.

“So while she won’t be a permanent resident she will still very much be in the wings and could well continue to cause aggro for the Carters.”

So while Babe’s victims can temporarily breathe a sigh of relief, it appears that they should still be on their guard should the master manipulator resurface in the future.
