Christopher Walken and Giancarlo Esposito swing into The Jungle Book cast

The pair join Ben Kingsley, Lupita Nyong’o, Idris Elba and Scarlett Johansson in Jon Favreau's live action adaptation of the Disney classic

Christopher Walken is joining the star-studded cast of Disney’s live action adaptation of The Jungle Book.

The Oscar-winner will lend his voice to the ape monarch King Louie. We already know Walken’s got moves like Jagger but we’ll have to wait to see how he fares singing “I Wanna Be Like You” as a fun-loving primate…

Breaking Bad star Giancarlo Esposito has also been cast as the voice of Akela, the wolf pack leader who adopts Mowgli. Esposito is no stranger to the Disney world, starring as Sidney – a reporter-turned-magic-mirror possessed by the evil queen – in series one of Once Upon a Time.

The cast of A-list voices also includes Ben Kingsley as panther Bagheera, Lupita Nyong’o as the mother wolf Raksha, Idris Elba as the tiger Shere Khan and Scarlett Johansson as the snake Kaa. Newcomer Neel Sethi who plays Mowgli will be the only actor to physically appear on screen.

Directed by Jon Favreau, The Jungle Book is set for release in the UK on 16 October 2015.
