This is not a drill people, there is just one week until the X Factor final. Louis Walsh is sitting pretty with two acts going into the semi-final and, shock of shocks, last year’s reigning champ Nicole Scherzinger doesn’t have anybody.
Sharon Osbourne and Gary Barlow continue with one act each. But who, WHO I ask you, will be performing next week in the final?
The acts have certainly got a task ahead of them this Saturday, performing tracks by vocal giants Elton John and Beyonce. Nothing like a bit of pressure, eh?
Here’s what the judges may have to say about it all…
Last week Luke couldn’t move for praise from the judges but it still wasn’t enough to keep him out of the bottom two. Luke’s bound to be feeling the pressure, although if he lobs his guitar like he did in the sing-off he may just rock his way into the final. Luke is singing Beyonce’s Best Thing I Never Had and Elton John’s Something About The Way You Look Tonight.
Luke has already taken on an Elton track so should feel confident. Plus Sharon Osbourne has made her support clear, so should back him all the way to the final with a flourish of ‘darlings’.
Louis.will.talk.very.definitely.and.say.he.must.be.in.the.final (it’s like he’s in the room, right?) and Nicole will praise everyone just because she can.
Louis Walsh’s second act is taking on Beyonce’s Halo and Elton’s Don’t Let The Sun Go Down On Me. Two huge songs, two big moments to try and get Gary to compliment his individuality again. He got there last week. Just.
Louis will definitely be demanding people “pick up the phone and vote” and the other judges are bound to praise his Nicholas’s “brave” choices. I’m hoping someone will make some sort of pun about the sun not going down on him…
The final band in the competition, Gary’s Rough Copy are singing Survivor. This is bound to annoy someone on the panel for being a Destiny’s Child track rather than specifically Beyonce. Probably Sharon. She’s got the gumption to say something. They’re also taking on Sorry Seems To Be The Hardest Word, which should be brilliant with some of their groovy moves thrown in.
Nicole Scherzinger thinks they’re the best band to ever appear on the show so is likely to give RC her support. Louis might also throw out an “It’s not a Beyonce song, Gary”. He’s got two acts to get into the final that need protecting after all. I’m sure he won’t mention that’s he got two acts. Not once.
Sharon Osbourne certainly knows how to play to a crowd and Sam Bailey singing Candle In The Wind has X Factor Hall of Fame written all over it. I might as well start sobbing now. Sam’s also singing If I Were A Boy, memorably performed by Beyonce on the show in 2008. Nicole might need to have a little lie down and Gary may even be lost for words.
The X Factor continues this Saturday at 8:15pm and Sunday at 8:00pm on ITV
