Backstage gossip: Mentor Danny O’Donoghue treated Andrea to a trip to the Isle of Wight festival last weekend, in the Script’s special helicopter. The trouble was, a film crew from The Voice came along to film the trip as part of Andrea’s moving pre-song montages. So the rest of the band had to slum it on the ferry. Oops.
Road to the final: The blind auditions concept worked well for Andrea: she’s only got 10% vision but couldn’t be said to have received a sympathy vote, since Danny O’Donoghue and Tom Jones didn’t know that when they turned round for her version of Angel by Sarah MacLachlan – a song she’s set to perform again in the final. Since then she’s sailed through every round, being backed by Danny all the way until the semi-final, when the public took over and voted her in.
Bookies’ odds: 8/1
Best performance: Ho Hey
RT verdict: Immensely likeable and a lovely singer, with the added bonus of hailing from a part of the world that traditionally likes to support its own in talent shows. Her appeal should skew older than Matt and Leah, too. Possibly not quite capable of stepping up a gear spectacularly enough to win the final, though.
