Joan Collins has revealed on Twitter that she’ll be playing a character named Crystal in ITV’s Benidorm, the comedy about British holidaymakers in Spain.
As Alexis Carrington in US 1980s soap Dynasty, Collins starred opposite Linda Evans’s Krystle Carrington – but she was keen to ensure Benidorm fans did not confuse the two characters.
“Looking forward to going to Spain to be in #Benidorm,” said Collins on the social media site. “And I’m playing Crystal, yes I am!! But not the Dynasty one.”
The approaching sixth series of Benidorm will also see the return of character Martin Weedon from series 1-3. Played by Nicholas Burns, he comes back to Benidorm on a stag do and has a “drunken encounter” with one of the established female holidaymakers…
Other guest appearances include former Coronation Street actor Ken Morley, otherwise known as supermarket manager Reg Holdsworth. He will be accompanied by a familiar face – actress Sherrie Hewson, who played his on-screen wife in the soap.
The new series began filming in March, and will continue until June. The sixth series will air in late summer this year.
