It’s the moment we’ve long been suspecting would happen: smitten Ayesha (Shivani Ghai) making her move on Walford postie Masood. Next week, viewers will see Ayesha bring the situation to a head when she confronts Masood on the landing of No 41 Albert Square wearing nothing but a towel. But what is Masood’s reaction?
Masood’s in a real dilemma,” says actor Nitin Ganatra. “Whether you’re a man or a woman, if you’ve been in a relationship for 30 years, it does take the excitement out of things. So for a young lady to emerge from his bathroom and say, ‘Take me, I’m yours’ – well, of course he’s tempted.”
Speaking to Inside Soap, the actor also reveals details of what goes on behind-the-scenes when it comes to filming such on-screen sauciness:
“I offered to take my own clothes off if it would help – and I insisted that the crew took their clothes off too! But seriously, Shivani’s new to EastEnders and was possibly in a more vulnerable position than I was. You have to be the gentleman. We took the edge off the tension by joking around, as I wanted to make sure she didn’t feel nervous. Saying that, she handled herself just fine!”
With Zainab (Nina Wadia) due to make her exit in the weeks to come, viewers can see how Ayesha’s seduction impacts on Masood’s relationship when the scene airs on Thursday 31 January at 7.30pm.
