There’s not long to wait until a new talent show hits our screens in the shape of The Voice UK.
Devised by Big Brother creator Jon de Mol, the show has already become a sensation in several countries around the world, including the US, where the programme is one of the top-rated TV star searches.
Set to launch before the end of the month, the programme seeks to find the best singers in the country, and unlike The X Factor, joke contestants need not apply, as the audition rounds will not be screened.
The format differs from traditional talent shows in that the first round of the competition is performed blind. It’s only when a coach decides they are sold on the voice of an artist that they get to see what they look like. Once each coach has ten competitors, the programme moves into a battle stage where contestants are whittled down to take part in the live finals.
The Voice UK coaches are Sir Tom Jones, Jessie J, will.i.am and Danny O’Donoghue.
