It seems former EastEnder Lacey Turner has developed a taste for the supernatural. After walking straight out of Walford and into a role as vengeful ghost Lia in BBC3 drama Being Human, she’s now signed up for series two of Sky Living’s Bedlam, about the residents of a block of flats converted from a lunatic asylum.
Paranormal activity is rife in Bedlam Heights – as are sexy young people. Also joining the cast are Gemma Chan, who viewers might recognise from Secret Diary of a Call Girl and Channel 4’s student comedy drama Fresh Meat, as well as newcomers Jack Roth and Nikesh Patel.
Lacey plays Ellie, a paramedic struggling to accept her special ability to see ghosts. Her search for someone in a similar situation leads her to Bedlam Heights, where she meets some of the building’s inhabitants – both dead and alive.
Lacey said: “I am really excited about taking part in the second series of Bedlam. It’s a great story with brilliant writing and a fantastic cast.
“Ellie is a really interesting and conflicted character. I’m looking forward to playing her and seeing where the story takes her.”
Series two of Bedlam is due to air in spring 2012.
