EastEnders: Don Gilet returns as Lucas Johnson

But what does the homicidal former preacher have in store for Denise?

Evil ex-preacher Lucas Johnson has been glimpsed in tonight’s EastEnders, his first appearance on the BBC1 soap since his incarceration in 2010.

Actor Don Gilet was seen briefly in this evening’s double bill giving ex-wife Denise Fox (Diane Parish) a clandestine call on a mobile phone from the confines of his cell after she failed to turn up for a prison visit.

Lucas’s comeback marks the third return of a familiar face this festive season, following Jack Branning’s (Scott Maslen) visit on Christmas Eve and a New Year’s Day cameo from Glenda Mitchell (Glynis Barber).

The resurfacing of the serial killer marks the start of a major storyline for the Fox family that was kick-started by the arrest of Lucas’s son Jordan back in November 2015.

Viewers saw Denise left visibly shaken after hearing from her murderous former husband – which is no real surprise what with him having previously bumped off his ex-wife Trina, killed Denise’s ex-husband Owen, drowned his son’s dog and incarcerated Denise in a basement while allowing her family to believe she’d killed herself. And who knows what he has in store now that he’s back in her life…
