The Danish Girl’s Eddie Redmayne, Wolf Hall’s Mark Rylance and Downton Abbey’s Maggie Smith are all recognised in the SAG Awards 2015 shortlist, with ITV’s Downton Abbey also earning a spot in the best TV drama category.

Dame Helen Mirren is nominated for best actress in drama The Woman in Gold, and also earns a best supporting actress nod for her role in biopic Trumbo. The film has also been shortlisted in the ‘Outstanding Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture’ category – the equivalent of the Oscars’ Best Picture.

Elba earns a best actor nod for Luther and two nominations for his performance in Netflix movie Beasts of No Nation.

Rylance has two nominations, one for his performance in Steven Spielberg’s Bridge of Spies and one for his starring role in BBC Tudor drama Wolf Hall.

Downton Abbey earns two places on the shortlist: Maggie Smith has been nominated for a best female actor award for her performance as the Dowager Countess, while the drama is also selected in SAG’s equivalent of the Best TV Drama series, alongside the likes of Game Of Thrones and House of Cards.

Eddie Redmayne goes up against Michael Fassbender in the best actor movie category for their roles in The Danish Girl and Steve Jobs respectively, while Kate Winslet is also nominated for her role in the Steve Jobs biopic.
