Actor James Nesbitt may have given up on his dream of playing James Bond but it seems he has found the next best thing.
The Missing star is to play DI Harry Clayton in Lucky Man, a Sky1 thriller due early next year from an idea by comic book icon Stan Lee.
Clayton is a detective who finds a magic bracelet that brings him good luck. The bad news is that someone very nasty wants it back.
As our picture shows, the drama is action packed – at one point Nesbitt even gets to drive a speedboat along the Thames 007-style.
“It’s the nearest I will get to James Bond,” chuckled the Northern Irishman. “Five years ago they were talking about me doing that, but now I have got this.”
The ten-part drama also stars Eve Best (Nurse Jackie) as his estranged wife Anna, with Fortitude star Sienna Guillory playing a mysterious stranger called Eve. Darren Boyd and Omid Djalili also star in the series which is being made in collaboration with Lee’s company POW! Entertainment and will air on Sky1 in early 2016.
“Luck has always been a fascinating subject to me, and I am excited to finally share that fascination with audiences around the world,” Lee said of his new show which is based on his idea and is scripted by lead writer Neil Biswas (The Take). “With all the creative projects I have worked on, I sure am a lucky man myself and I am excited to be working with Sky1 and Carnival Films on this latest project.”
Lee is best know as one of the central masterminds behind the Marvel comics revolution of the 1960s – Spider-man, Iron Man, Thor, The Incredible Hulk, Fantastic Four, X-Men and innumerable other comic book icons.
His other work outside the world of comics include cameos in geek-tastic shows like The Big Bang Theory and almost every Marvel-associated film…
