EastEnders: Kat and Alfie become millionaires – but what will they do with the cash?

The Moons celebrate in the wake of their win but viewers will be "surprised" by Alfie's next move

“I must have the luckiest boobs in the world,” said Kat Moon at the end of tonight’s EastEnders – and who are we to disagree? After all, husband Alfie had just rubbed a lottery scratchcard on her cleavage for luck, only to then find that they’d scooped a million-pound prize.

In an episode filled with conversations about risk-taking and whether being rich can buy you happiness, the Moons found that a small gamble paid dividends when they won big.

It was a shock change of fortune, especially seeing as Kat had just been denied compensation cash thanks to her suspended sentence. Despite being sanguine about being turned down (“Money is a curse to me. I don’t need it”), this didn’t of course stop Kat from celebrating when she and Alfie realised that the scratchcard they’d just bought was a winning one.

Now, though, the big question is: what will Kat and Alfie do with the money? And it seems viewers are in for shock during Friday’s episode. “The Moons’ dreams have finally come true – but viewers may be surprised by Alfie’s first thoughts on what they should do with the cash,” a show insider told RadioTimes.com.

One thing we do know though is that the pair are to take a break from Walford in the wake of their win. Shane Richie and Jessie Wallace are headed to Ireland to star as Kat and Alfie in their own upcoming six-part series that is due to transmit on BBC1 in 2016.
