Ed Sheeran is to guest star as himself in an upcoming episode of Australian soap Home and Away.
The 24-year-old has been filming on the Palm Beach sets of the Channel 5 drama alongside Emily Symons, who plays Marilyn Chambers.
Show bosses are currently remaining tight-lipped as to what brings the Give Me Love singer to Summer Bay but Sheeran said of Home and Away to news.com.au: “It’s an Australian institution. It’s always on in my local chip shop.
“I got asked to do it and it sounded like it could be fun. I did Shortland Street in New Zealand as well and I’m sure if Emmerdale or EastEnders ever ask me in England I would do that as well.
“I have got to a point where I really, really don’t care what people think so I’m doing stuff because I enjoy it now rather than because it might be cool. I am just in it for fun.”
Sheeran is also set to play three shows in Sydney and give a performance on the Australian version of The Voice.
The artist is the only international celebrity to have appeared on Home and Away and the biggest musician since Australian pop star John Farnham made a cameo during the 1980s.
