Shock scenes in tonight’s hour-long EastEnders will see Ian (Adam Woodyatt) find out that Max (Jake Wood) had been sleeping with his daughter Lucy. And while the grieving dad manages to initially remain composed at Lucy’s funeral, the sight of Max carrying his daughter’s coffin is enough to tip him over the edge.
It’s all too much for Ian and he ends lashing out at Max as the rest of the congregation watches on. Following the outburst, Ian will be seen struggling with his eulogy and leaving the service himself. It’s a tense situation that results in Peter taking over and paying a personal tribute to Lucy.
“There’s a lot of drama and Peter has to get up and do the eulogy. He feels like someone should say something for his sister and if other people can’t, then he should be the one to do it,” says actor Ben Hardy, who plays Peter. “It’s very tough for him. He talks about his relationship with Lucy and reminisces on times when they were children and what she was like. And then he talks about how it feels now that she’s gone.”
In other developments, Christian Clarke (John Partridge and Denise’s daughter Libby (Belinda Owusu) will both be back in Walford for the sombre occasion, while Tamwar (Himesh Patel) gets a shock when he finds a discarded condolence card inscribed with the words ‘Rot in Hell’…
