Hardy fans rejoice: Tom’s reportedly set to take on another project, playing both Ronnie and Reggie Kray in a new film about the twin London gangsters.
The film will be produced by Working Title, under the – ahem – working title Legend, according to Screen Daily. It’ll be written and directed by Oscar winner Brian Helgeland, who won his Academy Award for LA Confidential in 1998, and was most recently behind Jackie Robinson biopic 42. His latest venture will follow the relationship between the notorious Kray brothers, who ruled the East End gang “The Firm” during the 1950s and 60s and were previously played on screen by Martin and Gary Kemp in 1990 movie The Krays.
It’s already looking to be a busy year for Hardy, who has a whole host of projects soon to be released or filmed. First up is Locke, hitting cinema screens in April, which sees Hardy’s titular character struggle to hold his life together as he drives from Wales to London. Then there’s crime drama The Drop and Soviet-era thriller Child 44, both set for release in 2014. And towards the end of the year, he’ll be shooting Elton John biopic Rocketman, playing Sir Elton himself. Hardy fans: if you’re moving yourself and all your belongings into your favourite cinema seat, at least don’t forget to phone home every once in a while.
