Don’t blame us if you think it’s a spoiler – these words come direct from the Twitter account of Sherlock producer Sue Vertue: “Sometimes somebody has to die.”
Vertue is of course referring to Sunday night’s series three finale His Last Vow, in which Sherlock will take on major new villain Charles Augustus Magnussen, who – as eagle-eyed viewers will have deduced from last week’s episode – is quite possibly out to blackmail John Watson’s new wife Mary.
But who – who?! – has to die? Could the Watsons’ wedded bliss be over before it’s begun? Will Magnussen get his comeuppance? Is it just a red herring?
As the tweet reminds us, there’s only one way to find out…
Sherlock – His Last Vow. Sometimes somebody has to die. Sunday BBC1, 8.30. #sherlocklives
