She’s fiesty, fierce and really good with a bow and arrow. And Hunger Games star Jennifer Lawrence reckons her character Katniss Everdeen is a great role model for young girls, too.
“Katniss is a very good role model,” said the 23-year-old star at last night’s Catching Fire premiere in London’s Leicester Square. “She’s strong and not afraid to stand up for what’s right even when it’s scary.”
“I don’t think that you make the decision to be a role model. I definitely didn’t set out to be a role model at all,” continued the Oscar winning actress, who spent yesterday evening chatting to dedicated fans of the Hunger Games who were waiting in the rain for a glimpse of the film’s stars.
“You don’t really choose something like that, it just kind of happens when you’re in the spotlight. Young girls are looking at you and listening to what you are saying and so you just have to decide, ‘what do I want the younger generation to hear?’
The Hunger Games: Catching Fire is in UK cinemas 21 November.
