Forget domestic dramas, Downton Abbey’s moving into booze production

You can forget domestic dramas and the winds of social change, Downton Abbey is (sort of) moving into wine production instead.

US beverage company Wines That Rock are set to create a range “inspired” by the hit ITV period drama.

Along with Knockout Licensing, the company have set themselves the task of recreating the kind of rich Bordeaux wines that Lord Grantham would be proud to serve in Downton’s dining room.

And even Violet Crawley herself would be impressed –  the vinos will be made from grapes grown on the same vines that produced wines during Downton Abbey’s era…

Sounds nice enough to make you want to down-ton your drink. (Sorry.)

Co-owner of Wines That Rock Bill Zysblat said: “The Dulong Grands Vins De Bordeaux vineyards… have over 130 years of experience in creating the world’s best wines so these are wines the Crawley family would have been proud to serve at Downton.”

So if you’ve ever wanted to settle down to a tasty tipple while watching Downton Abbey, you’re in luck. Sadly, the bottles will only be available in America and Canada though, so you’ll have to head overseas to try this totally unofficial non-ITV endorsed drinking experience.
