Jamelia to guest-star in Death in Paradise

The pop star and presenter will play the "beautiful, fun-loving best friend" of DS Camille Bordey in series two of the fish-out-of-water drama

Jamelia is to make her TV acting debut in the second series of BBC1 drama Death in Paradise.

The singer and presenter will join regulars Ben Miller, Sara Martins, Danny John-Jules, Don Warrington and Gary Carr on the Caribbean island of Guadeloupe later this year to film her guest appearance on the show.

Thrilled with her new job, Jamelia said: “I’m so excited – not only am I in a great drama filming my first TV role but I’m doing it in the Caribbean too! I’m really looking forward to working with such a talented cast.”

Belinda Campbell, Executive Producer for Red Planet Pictures, the company behind the show, said: “We have a wonderful cast for Death in Paradise and our list of guest stars are equally exciting. Jamelia in particular was such a surprise find; she is not only a talented singer but actress too.”

Jamelia will play the “beautiful, fun-loving best friend” of DS Camille Bordey (Sara Martins) who investigates murders alongside Ben Miller’s DI Richard Poole, an Englishman struggling to adapt to life on the Caribbean island of Saint Marie.

Death in Paradise will return to BBC1 early next year.
