How to evolve Cosmog in Pokémon Go explained
How to get your hands on Solgaleo or Lunala without waiting for a limited-time event.
The endless pursuit to catch 'em all continues, and Pokémon Go fans looking to evolve Cosmog into its final evolutions of either Solgaleo or Lunala have come to the right place.
Now more than seven years into its lifespan, Pokémon Go has more than 700 of the pocket monsters available to capture.
One of the most sought-after, Cosmog, is a legendary psychic type that can evolve into Cosmoem and then into one of the legendary beasts: Solgaleo and Lunala.
Originally only able to access via the Astral Eclipse event back in November 2022, Cosmog can be accessed via the Cosmic Companion Special Research.

How to evolve Cosmog into Cosmoem in Pokémon Go
To turn your Cosmog into a Cosmoem, you’ll need 25 Cosmog candies, and you'll also need to work your way to the fifth stage of the Cosmic Companion Special Research story: Evolve a Cosmog.
Thankfully, completing stage four gives you the 25 candy you’ll need to take the next step in evolving your Cosmog.

When can Cosmoem evolve into Solgaleo or Lunala?
Cosmoem can evolve into Solgaleo or Lunala via the use of 100 Cosmog candies.
New chapters of the Cosmic Companion Special Research story are now available, promising new mysteries to solve with Cosmoem, Rhi, and Professor Willow. Reaching the eighth stage of the quest should give you enough Cosmog candy to evolve Cosmoem, but you can also use a Rare Candy or have the Pokémon as your buddy.
To earn 100 Cosmog candies, you will need to complete research steps five to eight of the Cosmic Companion Special Research story. It's then at step 9, known as "Evolve a Cosmoem" that you must make the choice between evolving to either Solgaleo or Lunala.
If you do this during the day Solgaleo will be acquired or if you choose to evolve at night Lunala will be unlocked. Pokémon Go matches your current zone, with the map a bright green during the day and dark blue at night.
We're still awaiting an opportunity from Niantic to capture a second Cosmog, so stay tuned for that if you want to fill your Pokédex.
